This FREE cultural festival will kick off with fun, colourful traditional dance performances, fashion shows and entertaining Muay Thai (Thai martial arts) matches by renowned champions.

Watch cooking and carving demonstrations by award winning Thai chef and culinary experts from Bangkok, and savour bite-size offerings by local 'Thai Select Cuisine' restaurants. The fun continues with food sampling, children's activities, games and prize draws, exhibition on Amazing Thailand and more.

The dance, fashion and Muay Thai performances will also be staged at the Vancouver Playhouse. Theatre tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online.

You will hear stories of: Vancouver's first madam, who built a glamorous Gastown bawdy house before the city even had a school; a long-forgotten plague that clutched the city in its feverish grasp; the terror of the fire that ate-up Gastown in minutes and sent people sprinting for their lives down Water Street; a Klondike Gold Rush beauty, who had her heart broken - and her pocketbook looted - by a ruthless theatre magnate; and, the city's oldest unsolved murder - the death of prospector John Bray.

The tour ventures through Gastown, where many of Vancouver's most historic buildings are located.

Each Wednesday in August, at 12 noon, the Church of St. Michael and All Angels will be conducting heritage tours of its 100 year old Anglican building.

Bring family, friends and visitors to explore the beautiful old grey stone landmark. One of the few Craftsman church buildings in BC, the cathedral's soaring nave made of coastal fir reflects both the Gothic revival style and arts and crafts influence. Hear the stories and history associated with the church's interior, and experience its wonderful acoustics when you hear the organ played.

After the tour, relax, smell the roses, and walk the labyrinth in the beautifully landscaped grounds.

Free and open to all. Refreshments will be available.

Since 2005, the Downtown Surrey BIA has been hosting Movies Under the Stars. What started as a single summer event in 2005 at Station Tower at Gateway Skytrain Station grew in 2009 to four consecutive evenings of entertainment & activities ending with a movie at the beautiful Holland Park in Downtown Surrey.

The movie starts at dusk (as soon as it is dark enough - usually between 8:45-9:15 pm) but come early - there is family-friendly entertainment & activities starting at 5 pm.
