Join us for the inaugural Art in the City Studio Tour from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Artists and artisans from all around Surrey will open their studio doors and provide a unique opportunity to showcase their original work to both visitors and residents. Through demonstration, exhibition, and engagement, visitors to the studios will receive a meaningful and enlightening experience on the arts in Surrey. 14 artists and artisans will be featured at 10 different locations around the city. At each site, gain a unique opportunity to watch an artist work on their craft: from using watercolours to create gorgeous landscapes to watching glass blowing in action. Join us for the painting event of the year! Artists are invited to participate in a competition of Plein Air painting. Artists will be randomly allocated a location, where they will have three hours to complete a work of art. The works will be adjudicated, with over $2000 in prizes. Young artists are also invited to participate, with dedicated awards for youth as well as numerous participation awards. Visitors are invited to come down to enjoy the atmosphere, live music, & watch the competition unfold as artists battle for the conveted Grand Prix Championship. Visitors will also be able to vote for a "People's Choice" award & take in the display of the painting which will hang at Britannia Heritage Shipyards through the week.
