On July 27, take a stroll through Fort Rodd Hill National Historic site, sip a glass of wine, enjoy the works of local artists, and know that you are helping to support your community. Colwood Rotary's Art and Wine Festival brings Vancouver Island wineries and artists together at a picturesque oceanside setting. A ticket gains entrance to Fort Rodd Hill, a keep-sake glass, five samples of wine with appetizing bites and the opportunity to view the works of local artists while enjoying tunes by Terry Brennan and wine tasting tips with sommelier, Micheline Ouimet. Proceeds go towards the Rotary Picnic Playground and other community programs. Tickets: $25 online or $35 at the gate.

The Kelowna Branch Okanagan Historical Society will be holding their annual Family Pioneer Picnic behind Parkinson Recreation Centre, next to the creek on Sunday, July 27 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This year the Picnic will be recognizing the arrival of Rutland families to the area.

All Okanagan Historical Society Members and Pioneers are welcome, and bring your families!

Please also bring a bag lunch. Coffee, juice, cake and ice cream will be provided to everyone free of charge.

Society publications 'Kelowna Street Names - Their Origins', as well as our Annual historical reports will be available for purchase.

One of the toughest triathlons in the world is coming to town. Whistler will host Subaru Ironman Canada this summer with the race course incorporating its beautiful lakes, mountain roads and the Valley Trail Network. The race will start with a 2-loop swim in the clean shallow waters of Alta Lake. Athletes will enjoy a lakeside transition before starting a 1-loop bike course via the Sea-to-Sky Highway, Callaghan Valley & Pemberton. The 2-loop course will utilize the Valley Trail, winding past Lost Lake & Green Lake before a triumphant finish adjacent to Whistler Olympic Plaza.
