It's Christmas at merridale starting November 15th, every Friday through Sunday night. So stop by for a visit and enjoy our complimentary enchanted Christmas Orchard Walk down Candycane Lane. Bring the whole family for an outing, or make it a date night with that special person. Our bistro will open at 5:00 for affordable family style dinners, or order from our regular dinner menu. The Stanley Park holiday train has been a Christmas tradition in Vancouver for more than 20 years. The train winds through the forest past three million sparkling lights while the aromas of hot chocolate, fresh popcorn & roasted chestnuts bring back festive childhood memories. Kids can also visit Santa in his "living room" at the train station & explore stunning holiday displays throughout the plaza. Admission to the plaza is free, but tickets are required to ride the train ($11 for adults & $8 for children & seniors); children 3 & under ride the train free. Discounted matinee tickets are also available ($6 for adults, children & seniors).

An amazing community light up in a wonderful Island hillside community. Beginning on the last Thursday in November and runs until the second Sunday in January. This annual event draws 1,000s of visitors to Ladysmith. Light Up Night is a must. Santa even shows up to turn on over 150,000 festive lights. Following light up there is an amazing festive parade with brightly lit floats that goes down the main street. This is followed by the "turn on" of the giant Christmas tree and the evening wraps up with an awesmome firesorks show sponsored by the LDCU. Light Up night is always the last Thursday in November.... it's the island's most amazing family event!!!

In the exhibition 'PigaPicha!', the East African photo tradition is presented and documented as a chapter of its own in the international history of photography. 'PigaPicha!' highlights the history of portrait photography in Nairobi and gives a comprehensive overview of this form of urban culture, which is one of the most creative fields in modern East Africa. The exhibition is produced by Iwalewa-Haus and the Afrikaarchiv (DEVA) of the University of Bayreuth, Germany. Join us for a special opening party on November 25 at the Museum of Anthropology.

The season features traditional entertainment, demonstrations, hands-on activities & exhibits from the early 1900s. Highlights include: Father Christmas, Footlight Theatre, Baking in the Farmhouse, a Christmas scavenger hunt. Musicians, entertainers, demonstrators, storytellers, community choirs & heritage crafts are also scheduled throughout the season. Irreverently witty and outright uproarious, Avenue Q is the musical story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate who arrives in New York City looking for love, a job, and his purpose in life. The only neighbourhood he can afford is the multicultural Avenue Q, where Sesame Street-esque puppets rub shoulders with humans. Part felt, part flesh, Avenue Q is packed with songs that are surprisingly poignant and only occasionally PC.

Every year, Victoria's Festival of Trees transforms The Fairmont Empress into a lush forest of beautifully decorated trees to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital.

Sponsors, local businesses, organizations & individuals of this event come together & decorate trees - in a sometimes wacky, often irreverent & always beautiful fashion.

These enchanting trees are then displayed throughout The Fairmont Empress over the holiday season.

The 2013 Victoria Festival of Trees raised over $205,400 in support of the urgent needs at BC Children's Hospital.

More than 20,000 votes were cast for the 73 beautifully decorated trees during the seven weeks at The Fairmont.
