During beginning of October 2008 I rode my Triumph Trident motorcycle with a sidecar 2200 km on the British Columbia Heritage Circle Tour. My first stop was Telegraph Cove located on Northern Vancouver Island near Port McNeil. Telegraph Cove is a quaint little community that has been restored to preserve its maritime heritage. The community started as one lineman cabin in 1911 for the telegraph line that extended from Campbell River to Telegraph Cove. Today whale watching, kayaking, and fishing charters are offered. The cove also has fine dinning in the Killer whale Cafe.
During my visit to Telegraph Cove I took in the Bones Project museum that has several assembled skeletons of marine mammals. A must see when visiting Telegraph Cover.

Vancouver, Gardens

We visited Vancouver in October. On one day of our trip, we saw the fall flowers and leaves at VanDusen. It was originally a golf course, but now it's a 50+ acre garden with plants from around the world...and more, as you'll see in the video.

Fernie Alpine Resort, Skiing & Snowboarding

It is only October and it is already snowing in Fernie, BC. This picture shows snow falling at Fernie Alpine Resort- home to 37 feet of snow last winter! That was the most snowfall of any major resort in Canada.

Williams Lake, Museums

I was in Williams Lake and a local recommended that I check out the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin which is home to the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame. It was quite interesting and I learned quite a bit about the history of the Stampede, the culture of rodeos and the town of Williams Lake. Definitely worth a visit!

I went for a walking journey through Downtown Vancouver and then took off on a Seaplane adventure into the Coast Mountain Range! The views were spectacular and we ended up landing on a "secret" alpine lake! Talk about a beautiful slice of BC!

Bella Coola, Sightseeing Tours
I flew into Bella Coola, about halfway up the BC coast and at the tip of an inlet, and decided to try to learn a little bit about the town. Someone I met suggested that the best way to see the town was to do a walking tour so I stopped in at the Kopas Store (a historical site as well), picked up a guidebook, and set off. I was amazed at how much history became apparent while walking the streets. As the clouds ringed the nearby mountain tops, nondescript buildings suddenly took on significance and the town's history came alive. The museum in town was an incredible wealth of artifacts and stories from the past. I also learned about a large Norweigan influence in the past and the town's connection to Thor Heyerdahl (of the Kon-tiki Expedition).

I was in Bella Coola and I wanted to go for a bit of a hike so I ask someone that worked in town for a suggestion. She recommended that I check out the First Nation Petrogyphs (rock carvings) just outside of town. I went to a gallery and there they set me up with a guide to take me up the trail and explain the significance of what I saw. I felt like I was getting a chance to see something that few people get the opportunity check out. The whole area was very spiritual, serene and beautiful, well worth a visit!

Nanaimo, Ziplining & Bungee Jumping

A group of my friends and I did TreeGo at Wildplay Element Park in Nanaimo this Saturday night- what a BLAST! This was a great night out playing in the trees, yes, in the dark (headlights where provided)!
At some points (the fourth level) you are 70ft up in the tree canopy. It was such a thrill, in fact I didn't sleep that night as my adrenaline was still pumping! Some of the 'elements' include: ladders, hanging tunnels, tarzan swing, nets, tight ropes, swinging ladders, log swings, zig-zag swing bridges, stir-ups and of course a few zip lines through the trees into the unknown (well at lest unseen!).
There was group of seven of us and another group of about ten out that night so so it took a bit over three hours to complete, but worth every minute and dollar (under $50.00). After the course they warm you up with hot chocolate and a bonfire. Not sure how much longer they are offering this as I know it was on for September/October Saturday nights- but whether you do it in the dark or not- Wildplay is a great place to play!

Clearwater, Attractions
Some tourists recommended I check out Wells Gray Provincial Park. It's a massive park but it's been dubbed Waterfall Park so I wanted to find out why! I marvelled at the width and beauty of Dawson Falls. I passed up the parking lot view and hiked 1 hr in on the Rim Trail to get a better look at Helmcken Falls. I was in awe of the size of the canyon and beauty of the entire park.

A local from Kamloops recommended I get intimate with nature on a River Safari. I headed north for 3 hours until I reached Blue River. The hour-long safari was great! I took in the beautiful scenery when I wasn't watching black bears in their natural habitat.
