Victoria, Accommodation
I'm sitting in my elegant one bedroom suite at the Victoria Parkside. Its a corner unit with the loveliest of modern yet warm furnishings, a mug of italian coffee in hand having just finished a great work out in the gym and a soak in our gorgeous stand alone soaker tub. If only it would stop raining life would be perfect. Well the Parkside can't do anything about the weather but they seem to have a handle on everything else a guest may want. Location is perfect! A block off Douglas its walking distance to everything in the Inner Harbour. The facilities are first class - from my view in the well equipped gym I could see families enjoying the very large swimming pool and hot tub. The atrium is stunning and probably the nicest surprise, was the coffee shop (not open on my last visit) where I got a latte and 3 home made morning glory muffins for under 10 dollars! If you are looking for a get away in Victoria for family or just to spoil yourself, try the Parkside. You may not want to go back home ... its that nice!

Tofino, Accommodation

Tofino just might be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
This photo was taken at Cox Bay Resort, one of the many oceanfront resorts that Tofino is famous for.
Cox Bay Resort is a clean, modern facility with tastefully-appointed rooms and great ammenities - hot tub, excercise room, covered barbeques and a reservable family room/games room and private look-out area that are perfect for large indoor get-togethers.
Surfers take note: this resort is just steps to the beach and offers secure outdoor storage lockers and wash-down areas (I was here in March and surf season is in full swing!).
I would recommend this resort for families, couples, or anyone looking for a west coast getaway.
Did I mention it has nice sunsets?

Bring Your Camera and Your Rubber Boots!
Now that the snow is really melting, there is water pooling in fields everywhere and the Canada Geese, Snow Geese, Swans and Ducks are arriving by the thousands and it's a great time to take photos.
About 3 miles north of Dawson Creek on Rd 219, I saw 2 other camera buffs parked beside the road taking photos of one particularly large mixed flock of big birds.
This only happens for a short period of time in the spring until the water runs off and soaks into the fields. Soon the birds will be gone and the fields will be growing a crop. In the meantime there is a lot of activity and much honking to go along with it.
Make sure you have your camera handy for those great photo opportunities when you pull to the side of the road to enjoy the water life.
