Salt Spring Island is a jewel nestled a short 30 minute ferry ride from Victoria. I find the rural, rustic charm combined with the pastural nature of the Island to be a throwback of a time gone by. The winding roads, hidden coves, and hiking trails that spot this island are a pleasure. The Village Market held every Saturday morning from spring through fall is a must see. The locals bring their arts, wares, and farm fresh produce and dairy products for all to enjoy. I only wish I could live there, yet am blessed to visit several times a year

Last spring our family realized a dream of visiting and exploring Vancouver Island.  One day we did some exploring on the southwestern part of the island.  We stopped at beaches and bays along the way, did some hiking and took in some spectacular views of the ocean and coastal forest.

We were ready for some rest and relaxation, and stopped at an unassuming place called "Point No Point".

From the road it looks like a small resort built in the 50's with a curious little restaurant. We had a very interesting visit with the host, and of course, stayed for a delightful lunch.  After hearing about our afternoon quest to continue exploring, the host kindly invited us to spend some time touring their private beaches--usually reserved for resort guests. What a thrill!  We spent the entire afternoon exploring the beaches, trails, forest, and tidepools, collecting shells, and crossing cliff side bridges!  When we returned, the host suggested we stay for a meal.  We needed very little convincing!

The local seafood dishes were so outstanding, we consider that dinner to have been the best we have ever had! Everyone is treated so well at "Point No Point", including the resident cat, who greeted us as we were leaving. He apparently just showed up and now lives there. His coat is so shiny, dark and healthy, it looks like seal fur; an excellent compliment to the restaurant.

We can't wait to return to "Point No Point"!

I hesitate to pass on this information of our great find.  It is the complete unspoiled beauty, the peace and the tranquility of the place that makes it such a great find.  But along with all of this natural beauty we were treated so wonderfully that I must pass that information on.  We arrived fairly late and managed to get a cabin at Bear Ridge Cabins.  These cabins are beautiful and clean.   As we were hungry, we asked the host, Martin, where we could eat in town.  He suggested the Leyland Hotel.  We hurried off to town and found that the dining room was minutes within closing but we were welcomed in and given a menu.  We sat under a tree on the deck looking out at the full moon on the lake.  The host/cook was very welcoming and friendly, the food was great and the atmosphere undescribeable.  By the time we left, it was very dark and cooling off.  To our wonderful surprise, when we arrived back at our cabin, Martin had started a wood fire for us in our cabin.  We take our hats off to the hosts of the Bear Ridge Cabins and host of Leyland Hotel Dining Room in Nakusp, BC.  Thank you.

Last summer 6 of us visited Victoria.  We had the best time taking photos with  the bears.  What a great idea having these bears located throught the city with each designed with a different theme.  We visit Victoria each year and look forward to see what unique things are happening.

This attraction was a pleasant surprise for me and a group of friends.  I had always been afraid of bees until I visited Planet Bee. Get a sneak peak into their lives by spying on them through a glass encased hive.  You can also learn about how the bi-products of bees are used for a variety of remedies and purchase an array of products from their sweet little shop.

My husband and I were married at Chaunigan Lake Lodge in the Chilcotin in September of 1996. 10 years and 2 kids later, we decided to re-visit the lake and lodge and let our kids in on a place and area that we love so much!!! It was as great the second time as the first.

My husband, Jim, and I traveled to Canada in Sept., 2007.  to auto tour the Canadian Parks of Kootenay, Yoho, Banff, and Jasper.  We saw many wonders highlighted by sighting grizzly bears and many big horn sheep.  A must for this trip was Mount Robson Prov. Park which was definitely a highlight and a photographer's dream.  From there we went to Wells Gray Prov. Park and were awed by Helmcken Falls.  We stayed in Clearwater and got an early start on our way south toward Kamloops.  We were headed to Keremeos and the Grist Mill and Gardens Heritage Site there.    We love backroads and decided to drive down Dunn Lake Road instead of Yellowhead Highway.  Sometimes the simple things we encounter on our vacations are the most memorable.  We passed this Canadian Farm located beside the North Thompson River.  The early morning fog rising from the river created a beautiful backdrop for the picturesque farm.  The serenity and beauty of this scene was a 'Great Find' of our time in British Columbia.

Wonderful market and kids market. Childrens stores are well stocked. Especially like store called Chameleons? Store owner very knowledgeable.

Organic coffee shop next to duck pond and kids market also very family friendly. Kids play area and change table in washroom.

Water park also great fun!

Too many people zoom up to Whistler from Vancouver and forget to get out and enjoy the scenery. This is a shot from just outside Britannia, close to Squamish. There are many viewpoints along the highway that are more than worth the stop to stretch your legs.
