My husband flew to calgary and rented a car to travel thru the mountains to visit my dad in Summerland BC..they lost my luggage at the airport and an hour into the drive a truck thru a rock thru the windshield of the rental car..kind of a rocky start(no pun intended)..BC has so many beautiful sites but the most memorable one was on the way back to calgary we stopped in Golden at a gorgeous bed and breakfast. the Alpenrose Lodge ....the owner suggested we go up kicking horse mountain in the gondola..the only problem was I am terrified of heights...I thought I could do it and got in and then went hysterical!!! but coming down I looked out in the horizon and WOW how gorgeous~!!! they had a bear refuge there and they had tours to tell us all about it and got up close and personal with the bear!! It was a very neat experience

I VISITED VANCOUVER ISLAND IN 2003, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS A CHILD. NOW THAT I AM RETIRED I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE WANT TO RETIRE THERE. THE WHOLE VACATION WAS RELAXED AND THANKS TO THE VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE MY RETIREMENT DREAM IS TO LIVE PERMENANTLY ON THE ISLAND.

Last October, I had the opportunity to visit the new Wild Play at Bungy Zone near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
Four of us tried the aerial Tree Course (or TreeGO park) in a superb Dougals Fir forest, closed to the Bungy Zone.
To walk between the trees at 10 to 50 feet off the ground was a tremendous experience.

Bowen Island is just a short ferry ride away from our home in the Fraser Valley and provided us with a serene kayaking getaway in August.

| Even though my sons all live in the beautiful Kooneys of British Columbia, it was my first visit. Seeing this area for the first time was a very moving experience, and I now understand why they chose to stay. The mountains were breathtaking. My sons took me four-wheeling on the logging roads, and showed me the great glaciers that still grace the Canadian Rockies. You must believe me when I tell you the Canadian Rocky Mountains are much more massive and more magestic than their counterparts in the States. I experienced the spring run-off, down the sides of the mountains, the magnificent trees and abundant wildlife. The people are fantastic and very hospitable. The trip left me yearning for more, and British Columbia stole my heart in that short week I visited. Slocan is a little town nestled in the mountains, and the beautiful city of Nelson sits on the lake, again surrounded by the mountains. There is something for everyone; bird watching, skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, nature trails, fishing, boating, cycling, and many local artists. |

Babine Lake resort..40 kms on gravel road to Otters playing on the dock, eagles guarding from the trees, breakfast available on the fly from the docks, clear air and star filled skys at night. Not enough... how about clean air, potluck suppers, several languages spoken, bear, wolf, porcupine, and new friendships.
This is the one place I would really like to visit again.

Harrison Hot Springs, Hot Springs

If you are tired of bumping into silly tourists while walking about on your next vacation, take a trip to a place during it's off season. I took a trip out to Harrison Hot Springs in January. Sure, the weather was rainy but the scenery was still breathtaking! Harrison Lake was so calm and peaceful. Great place to get away from the city after the holiday chaos. Don't forget your bathing suite and your flip-flops!

In September 2006, by luck or by fate, my groom and I found the idyllic, secluded haven that is Lillooet Lake Lodge.
Originally, we'd planned on staying just one night somewhere on our way to a guest ranch near 70 Mile House, but ultimately decided to leave the ranch early, and return to Lillooet Lake Lodge for the remainder of our honeymoon.
It's serene and rustic, with truly majestic views. The property has an interesting history, and proprietors Jacob & Elisabeth are perfect hosts.
We stayed in two different cabins, both cozy and uniquely decorated. I highly recommend the largest cabin (I think it's #5) - - what Jacob has done to transform a former wood shed will amaze you. It has the feel of a lakeside chalet from 70 years ago, though it's fully wired with power. After a paddle on the lake or a walk up to the waterfall, the wood stove will warm you through and through. Outhouses are just steps away, and are well-maintained.
To get to Lillooet Lake Lodge, there's a bit of a drive on a gravel road, but it's worth the ride to find peace amongst the trees and Elisabeth's gardens. I treasure memories of playing crib, making dinner, and enjoying the scenery at this charming retreat.
There's also space for campers at Lillooet Lake Lodge. So whichever you choose, I encourage you to step back from everyday life at one of my favourite spots in BC.
