Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests...and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs.

My husband and I were lucky enough to travel to Whistler BC in late March 09 courtesy of the BC Tourist Board. We had heard great reports about the Ski resort and were excited to be visiting the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. We were also looking forward to seeing Canada in the Winter, after a three weeks Summer road trip the previous year.

After a 10 hour flight and three hour transfer we arrived at our accomodation in the centre of Whistler, The Blackcomb Lodge and Spa. The Lodge was ideally placed in the Market Square and had helpful and friendly staff on hand. The room we had was spacious and comfortable with microwave and fridge.

The following day we collected our Ski equipment and headed to the lifts. There were at least three lifts taking Skiers, Boarders and foot passengers up either Whistler of Blackcomb Mountains. These lifts were always well staffed and excellently managed, we never had to stand in line for more than 5 minutes, a pleasant experience after Europe.

Once on the Piste we were faced by miles and miles of well posted and groomed slopes, that more than challenged our ability. The friendliness and discipline and overall civility of the people we came into contact with was most refreshing. There were also numerous safety staff on hand should anything go wrong.

Overall my opinion of Whistler BC Canada is that if you get the chance its a must. Fantastic scenary, Skiing and people and off course the Apres.

December 12, 2008 marks the launch date of one of Whistler Blackcomb’s landmark projects and Canada’s newest tourism icon, the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola.

The grand opening party will feature live DJs, a special Fire and Ice show, and animation in the village and on the mountain.

The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will revolutionize the way visitors experience Whistler Blackcomb. During the winter, skiers and riders will enjoy infinite opportunities to experience the side-by-side mountains. In the summer, the PEAK 2 PEAK will bring sightseers and hikers into the high alpine to experience breathtaking scenic views of Garibaldi Provincial Park.

Spanning 4.4 kilometres (2.73 miles) in total distance from mountain to mountain, the Doppelmayr 3S tri-cable gondola boasts the world’s longest unsupported span of 3.024 kilometres (1.88 miles) between two towers furthest apart, as well as the world’s highest lift of its kind at 436 metres (1,427 feet) above the Fitzsimmons Creek.

Total ride time is 11 minutes with a total lift capacity of 4,100 passengers per hour. The terminal location on Whistler Mountain is at the Roundhouse Lodge, while it's counterpart on Blackcomb is at the Rendezvous Lodge.

When I got to the top of the mountain, I felt dizzy but still, I couldn't but take out my phone from my pocket to take this picture. Spent the whole day skiing, alone but oh so lovely.

The Symphony lift is a new one recently put in on Whistler Mountain, where skiiers of any level can experience an amazing day of sunshine powder, and a beautiful view. Although on some days skiier and boarders may suffer from harsh weather, for the most part it is sunny and guaruntees an amazing powder day.

My first trip to Whistler was something I will never forget.  I had been to some big hills in Vermont and Quebec, but I had never yet skiid the rockies.

After our ride up the whistler gondola to the peak on a perfectly clear day - the view cna only be described as magnificient.  It was almost un-real - something out of a painting.

I snapped a few photos, some of my personal all time favorties, to capture the moment, but I don't think I'll ever forget it.
