Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests...and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs.

The 2011 RBC GranFondo Whistler brought together 7,000 cyclists that rode a 122 kms from the start gate in downtown Vancouver to the finish line in the natural playground of Whistler. The ride travels the world's most scenic coastal mountain corridor, British Columbia's Sea to Sky highway.

Tourism British Columbia Field Reporter Chris Wheeler joined in on this epic journey to capture what is now the largest mass cycling event of its kind in North America!

I headed up to Whistler to meet some friends and before I knew it I was ripping down the mountain on a downhill bike. Hanging on for dear life, I tried to keep up with the crew. After that experience, I'm pretty sure I'm already addicted to the sport!

Whistler Mountain Bike Park celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and offers over 250 kms of trails for all levels of riders. You got to check it out.

The Crankworx 2007 mountain bike festival is on in Whistler. I've heard much about it so I decided to check it out for myself today.

We watched incredible athletes compete in the slopeside competition where they do insane jumps while going down the 'boneyard' terrain park. At the end of the course, after performing back flips, tail whips and other crazy stunts, they jump off the jumbotron, probably a 30 foot jump.

I was lucky to take this picture of winner Ben Boyko in mid air while jumped off the jumbotron and did a full 360 before landing. Ben is hovering above the giant screen where his image is displayed.

The terrain park is entertaining to watch all summer. You might not see 30 feet jumps, but you'll still be amazed.

Easily accessible from Whistler Village is a network of paved cycling trails leading to several parks and lakes.  These spots are definitely where the locals go – and why not? Each path leads to impressive manicured recreation areas perfect for admiring the natural surroundings, or tossing a Frisbee, or swimming, or to land your paraglider!  When in Whistler, be sure to rent a bike and check it out.
