Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests at super-fast speeds… and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs. (Toshi Kawano photo)

Coastal Cafe News is website and print publication serving the community of Ucluelet and Tofino on the west coast of Canada's Vancouver Island. We’ve recently produced a video about this unique region, our love for the people and local businesses that make it so great. Ucluelet and Tofino are bordered by beautiful rain forest, mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Most of the people residing in these towns are artists, musicians, fisherman, surfers and often all of the above.

If you plan to visit, check out Pacific Rim National Park, the Ucluelet Aquarium, the Hot Springs, or maybe a whale watching tour.... these among many others, are just an example of the breathtaking experiences this region has to offer. Our restaurants offer wonderful cuisine in a region famous for seafood straight from the boat to your table!

If you plan to visit, we would love to give some recommendations, so just ask... or just come on out, it won't be long until you find something incredible!

Headed up to Tofino, BC on Vancouver Island to escape life's worries and enjoy the surf. The Ocean is a healer, and there is nowhere better in Canada then Tofino to relax on the beaches and lose yourself in the surf.

I have been surfing twice in Tofino- I had so much fun and have been dreaming of going again.

Didn't know when I was going to come up for air- but i did. It was amazing.

There is absolutely no place like Long Beach, on Vancouver Island.  Here, you get it all - crashing waves, sunsets to die for, long stretches of sandy beach, no crowds, eagles overhead, ancient rainforest.  What else could you possibly want? Oh ya, the surf!  That's here too!

On our second trip to Vancouver Island, we loaded the boards, launched the Whaler and headed for a top secret area that was sure to provide the waves of a lifetime.

Enroute, we passed many spectacular sites.  As I looked over at my friends gliding across sheet glass, the little lighthouse marking the channel came into view.

Knowing what was in store for us raised our level of anticipation to a new high.  We were not to be disappointed.
