Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests at super-fast speeds… and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs. (Toshi Kawano photo)

Tofino just might be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

This photo was taken at Cox Bay Resort, one of the many oceanfront resorts that Tofino is famous for.

Cox Bay Resort is a clean, modern facility with tastefully-appointed rooms and great ammenities - hot tub, excercise room, covered barbeques and a reservable family room/games room and private look-out area that are perfect for large indoor get-togethers.

Surfers take note: this resort is just steps to the beach and offers secure outdoor storage lockers and wash-down areas (I was here in March and surf season is in full swing!).

I would recommend this resort for families, couples, or anyone looking for a west coast getaway.

Did I mention it has nice sunsets?

Looking for a place to stay in Tofino? I recently stayed at Cox Bay Beach Resort and had an awesome time. Four things in particular made my experience ultra-enjoyable:

Hot tub near the beach: Even in the pouring March rain, the resort's hot tub rocked. It’s right near the beach, so I soaked in the view while soaking in the tub.

Beds: Soft mattresses, comfy pillows and super fluffy duvets. I’m not normally one to notice these things, but it was pretty cozy.

DIY Spa: To create my own personal spa sanctuary, I poured the sac of complimentary bath crystals into the gigantic soaker tub and set the heated tiles to high... the resort’s big white robe and candles took my budget-savvy relaxation night to a whole ‘nutha level.

Location: You can’t get much better than this. Set on Cox Bay, the resort is close to good surfing, an incredible beach/sunset viewing point (the trail is just a 10-minute walk through the woods), birdwatching and lots of sandy beach.

Next time, I’ll bring my bike, as I realized that Cox Bay is the southernmost point of the Tofino MUP (Multi-Use Path), making it easy to bike into town.

Every year, without fail, we sneak away for a long weekend in December to Tofino. This is our time to wind down before all the hussle and bussle of Christmas descends upon the Lower Mainland.  We love to go to Middle Beach Lodge and Crystal Cove.  We've already booked for Dec 2007!  This will be our 11th year of the winter visit.  We always fall in love over and over again with the views of the ocean at our doorstep.  If only you could bottle it and take it home.

We're usually in time for "Jingle Bell Rock" which is their late night hristmas shopping celebration and we're finding new shops or restaurants to visit everytime we visit.

Our little Min Schnauzer loves it too because Tofino is dog-friendly!
