Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests...and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs.

As I mentioned before in one of my blogs, I was recently hired by Kermodei Tourism as a summer student. Since then, I've tried my best to approach the area I live in with the eyes of a tourist and not the eyes of a person who has grown up in this area.

This was my approach to the drive between Terrace and Prince Rupert yesterday.  I have made this drive many times with my parents as a child but not nearly as much since I've been old enough to take my eyes off my Gameboy and really appreciate the scenery.
We happened to set out on a beautiful sunny Monday morning around 9am.  This is a beautiful time for the drive, as the sun is hitting the mountains and the ocean inlet at just the right angles.  Amongst the beautiful green mountains, you'll see scattered waterfalls all along the way.

About 15KM out of Rupert, you'll notice some cool glyphs on the side of one of the mountains (as seen in the picture). These faces have been on the mountain for hundreds of years and were supposed to be the protecting spirits of the channel across the inlet that they face.

The signs along the highway might say 100km/hr but with a mix of the amazing scenery and the high chance to see wildlife (be it bears or eagles or anything else), you might find yourself slowing down to take everything in.

Trapline Mountain is one of Terrace's top secret spots to view beautiful glacier lakes and walk around at an altitude of 4,700 feet among the peaks of mountain tops. I was lucky enough to head up last weekend with some family friends and took some photographs of the beauty around this mountain.

To get to Trapline Mountain head up Copper River Forestry Road for 22.6 km and then the road forks, follow the right up the mountain until you come to the top. It is a beautiful easy walk, and a chance to see the top of a mountain without a vigorous hike. This is also a prime snowmobile location as well as mountain biking.

Trapline Mountain is a breathtaking experience and a wonderful trip for a relaxing adventure.

Twin Spruce Trail is located on the site of Lakelse Lake Provincial Park, just 18 km south of Terrace on Highway 37. It is a beautiful 2 km trail that takes you through an old growth forest, full of ancient trees, culturally modified trees, creeks, and over boardwalks and bridges. It is an easy trail, and a perfect walk for a mix of nature and relaxation.

I was lucky enough to take a helicopter ride with White River Helicopters Inc. piloted by Sid Peltier. It was a beautiful ride over Sleeping Beauty Mountain just on the outskirts of Terrace, British Columbia. This video shows some of the breathtaking scenery.

Yesterday, my fellow employees and I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Split Mountain Adventures around the Terrace area and then over to the Kitselas Canyon.

We met the two tour guides at Terrace's historical George Little House, the original house of the George Little, the founder of Terrace, which is now the local train station. The guides were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the Terrace area, with many interesting stories about the begginning of the community. They took us to a look out of the Skeena River showing the places the old ferry boats used to travel down.

We then travelled the Kitselas Canyon and you can read all about our experience there on 'Daniel at Kermodei Tourism' 's blog from yesterday. I throughly recommend taking this tour when you're in the Terrace area for a facinating trip full of history, culture and adventure.

Hi all! For myself, the perfect day always encorporates a connection with mother nature. In Terrace BC, this is easily accomplished with the numorous forests trails, river banks, and wildlife surrounding the entire town.

One of my personal favorite "green" escapes is the Ferry Island campsite and walking trail. Located only a five minute drive from the city centre off of Hwy 16, Ferry Island allows an escape from a busy day at the office. Come and enjoy thirty minutes of fresh air and bird calling while stretching your legs walking around the trail.

Equipped for overnight camping, washroom facilities, "off the leash" dog walking section and beautiful picnic spots overlooking the Skeena River, the Ferry Island trail is an appreciated local gem. I have walked the loop since I was young and still find enjoyment searching out the carved faces in the trees and identifying bird species in the canopy. Last summer I was lucky enough to spot a beaver swimming down the Skeena river next to the trail!

I always feel refreshed and awakened after enjoying time at Ferry Island and therefore I challenge all Terrace locals and visitors passing through to walk the loop this summer!
