Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests...and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs.

2 months ago on fathers day (better late then never) my dad and I took a drive up to terrace for the weekend to check out what was new and much to our surpise we came across the Terrace Drag Race Association (TDRA) Fathers Day drag race and car show! Even the sun came out just in time to enjoy a great day of racing!

There were so many amazing cars, trucks, bikes and even sleds racing through out the weekend, i had a few personal favorites such as an amazing red Harley Davidson Shovelhead!! This bike isnt one you would be able to see on the street, its all about racing! Which is why my friends, family and I are heading up to Terrace for this long weekend aswell for TDRA's "Hot August Nights" racing on Sunday July 31st and Monday August 1st, and were planning on going down to check out the year end races on Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th as well! We're hooked now, and I cant wait to feast my eyes on the zippy little red bike again!

If you wanted to learn more about the Terrace Drag Races check out their website (its become one of my favorite sites) their site comes complete with schedules, photos, points, and much more!

This year I decided to attend the events happening in Terrace during Riverboat days. It was a phenomenal experience and I encourage everyone to participate next year.

I have attached a picture video of the parade I enjoyed, what a great way to start off the day! I then went to the farmers market which was very successful, a variety of arts and crafts along with many cultures of food for sale. Yummy!

Nearby was a live band, different sporting events, and a whole lot of fun! To top off the day at night I was amazed by the fireworks. Enjoy!

This year I got to experience some of Terrace's fantastic week at their annual Riverboat Days celebrations. It started off with an opening ceremony in the downtown park, followed by the next day with a lively farmers market, parade, live music, sporting activities, and fireworks. It was a super fun week full of events for all age groups and maturity levels! Riverboat Days is at the beginning of August every year so be sure to come to Terrace at next year for a fun week full of exciting activities.

My favourite Riverboat Days event is always the parade, and this year did not disappoint. Attached is a short film full of pictures and videos I took of this years parade. Enjoy!

We went to Terrace, my husband's hometown, for "Riverboat Days" this summer. Although I was somewhat skeptical of how big of a festival it would be, I was happy to go anyway because Terrace is lush and beautiful, with lots of outdoor stuff to do.

Riverboat Days is a really well organised 9 day festival. It definitely had a kind of old-time, northern vibe going on - I went to the "Happy Gang" pancake breakfast, and ended up sitting next to community matriarch, Betty Campbell. Dressed in her loveliest dress, she was ready to take her place on the parade float as the "2008 Riverboat Days Queen". The breakfast was packed, but everyone made room, rescued spilling juice from excited children, and talked to whoever sat nearby.

The parade was over an hour long, and included the Nisga'a dancers in traditional regalia, fire trucks (I had my 3 year old with me, so that was a hit!), some pretty talented bands, and Vancouver 2010 Olympic mascots Miga, Quatchi and Sumi.

The same day, we checked out the farmers market (mmm.... pakoras), went to the Kitsumkalum Salmon barbeque, and later watched Chilliwack perform in the park!

Another day, we went to Kitselas Canyon National Historic Site, (15km from Terrace) and watched four new Crest Poles - Wolf, Eagle, Raven and Killerwhate - being raised. Then, more salmon from the bbq! It was a crazy hot day, so on the way back, we stopped in at Kleanza Creek Provincial Park, and plunged into the ice-cold stream to cool down.

There was more to do as part of the festival and in the Terrace area, but I'll save that for another entry!
