If you ever come to Terrace and are looking for a good spot to see fish, Williams Creek is phenomenal. You can Park at Gruchy's Beach and take the trail upstream to see the fish. They are so close; it is beautiful, and so fascinating to watch them. You may also spot salamanders or frogs on the trail as well. It is child friendly, and a nice way to kill some time.
The nature at the area is great. You're surrounded by the trees, there are fish spawning in the creek right near the trail, there are birds singing, and frogs chirping, it's just wonderful. Going here with my friend we had tons of fun, doing the walk, taking pictures, and admiring the fish.
If you take the trail further downstream you would get to the beach. It's a nice sandy beach, and sometimes there is a volleyball net set up for you to use. If you go out on a windy day you may also see some people kiting. This is a great place to check out if you have time to spare; plenty of nature, relaxing, and sport to check out.

The Riverboat Days are my favourite time of year, it happens in the beginning of August and celebrates the spirit of skeena. Riverboat Days is held for 10 days with over 50 events that include the legion parade, fireworks that take place just over Ferry Island, Concerts in the park and the Riverside Festival. Those are the mainstays that are sure to draw a crowd. But you can also enjoy quiet moments like appreciating visual art, or take part in a bunch of different sporting events like slow pitch, volleyball and basket ball. Every year in each summer is a great time to be in here in beautiful Terrace. I strongly recommend that you to come and join us to celebrate the spirit of skeena which is always held in the beginning of August.

On Friday July 27, 2012, some fellow co-workers and I had taken a drive up the Nass Valley to check out the beautiful scenery. It was a nice day for the drive, wasn't too hot or too cold. This is most definately one of my favorite road trips to take as there is so much to see. I would recommend everyone to take a trip up the Nass Valley. Vetter Falls is just one of the many beautiful stops to rest and have lunch.

The Nass Valley is just beautiful, as well as, educational and interesting. It is a full day event to see everything there is to see, and it is something I would suggest everyone to try and do. About 300 years ago the Tseax Volcano went off; the lava flow killed about 2,000 people, and the lava beds are now a historic site. Along the road there is an auto tour in which tourists may travel, and learn something about the Nisga’a peoples.
My grandparents had wanted to go on the auto tour and asked me to accompany them as a guide, of course I was excited to go; I love spending time with them. I went into work the next day all excited to find out what day I could take them out, but me and Eric, one of my coworkers, thought it would be awesome if we could all go, and we turned the FAM tour into a FAMily tour! We spent the entire day telling stories, doing the auto tour, and having a lot of fun.
Along the way we stopped at places like Vetter Falls, a beautiful creek with rich waters that flowed through the trees, and the Canyon City suspension bridge. We read about the “Phantom Fish” at Vetter Falls, and at the Nisga’a Visitor Centre we read about some of the history, and looked at the older pictures of the area and people.
Talking to my grandparents later, they said they had a blast. Having us take them made it that much more exciting, and fun. They saw stops they’d never heard of before; they learnt about the history and listened to stories, and told lots of stories themselves. We all kept each other company, and entertained one another. Although we reached an early end to our journey; a construction worker hit a pole, causing a live power line to fall on his truck. Luckily no one had gotten hurt, but we were all quite upset we didn’t get to go to Greenville and see the museum, or go to Kincolith and walk along the board walk for a relaxing end to the day. We all still had fun, and we can always go up again to finish what we missed.

As I've mentioned before in this blog, I love waterfalls. Situated only
45 minutes out of town is maybe one of the most beautiful waterfalls
I've ever seen, and even moreso around this time of year. The local
guide informed me that Vedder Falls is normally a gorgeous waterfall
with 2 fingers (a finger being defined as an individual waterfall part
of the system) however when the creek is flooded, it actually becomes a 4
fingered waterfall.
Now, let me preface this by saying I've seen
many of the local waterfalls and they are all gorgeous... but the
flooded Vedder Falls is amazing. Conveniently located as a 5 minute
walk off the highway, the convenience to beauty ratio is completely
worth it. It is gorgeous and a nicely made viewing platform right on the
edge of the falls with a great little trail to hike down the creek a
ways.

Today a friend and I went for a drive towards Prince Rupert to go on an adventure to find John Little Falls. We pulled into Exstew Rest Area about 35 km west of Terrace and there was a memorial sign for John Little, a soldier from Terrace who died in Hong Kong in 1942 at the age of 20. The water falls are located 5 km on the right hand side of the road after this rest area and can be seen directly from the highway.
We could not find a trail or road that took you directly to the falls, but there is a small pull out where you can park and view the falls from a distance. It is a beautiful waterfall nestled among the green trees in the valley of a mountain. Keep your eyes open for these falls while traveling Highway 16 west between Terrace and Prince Rupert.

In the fall, when the Skeena River is running low and slow it is possible to catch the reflection of this magnificent
mountain range in one of the many back waters of the Skeena. The Seven Sisters is located near Cedar Vale B.C.
on highway 16, approximately 30 miles east of Terrace.
