Soar hundreds of feet above the valley floor and whiz past old-growth forests at super-fast speeds… and then tell the world about it! Ziplining in Whistler is just one activity to share on Hellobc.com/blogs. (Toshi Kawano photo)

A place often overlooked by locals, but a popular stop for visitors is the Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park.  The museum is a perfect place to spend a couple hours and understand the history of First Nations in the area by looking at different artifacts such as basket weavings, a hand carved canoe and archaeology finds from over the years!  Lots of information on the history of residential schools and including a photo montage and articles.

The outdoor heritage park features one kilometre walking trail that puts a spotlight on pithouses and the importance of storytelling in First Nations culture.  There are many opportunities to contact the museum and request a guided tour of the museum and park, but also many opportunities to tour alone!   The Heritage Park is also a great photo opportunity spot, while you enjoy your walk near the Thompson River!
