Being fortunate enough to explore the Kootenay Rockies, I was eager to begin my adventure in a place that really spoke to the raw beauty of the region.

My husband flew to calgary and rented a car to travel thru the mountains to visit my dad in Summerland BC..they lost my luggage at the airport and an hour into the drive a truck thru a rock thru the windshield of the rental car..kind of a rocky start(no pun intended)..BC has so many beautiful sites but the most memorable one was on the way back to calgary we stopped in Golden at a gorgeous bed and breakfast. the Alpenrose Lodge ....the owner suggested we go up kicking horse mountain in the gondola..the only problem was I am terrified of heights...I thought I could do it and got in and then went hysterical!!! but coming down I looked out in the horizon and WOW how gorgeous~!!! they had a bear refuge there and they had tours to tell us all about it and got up close and personal with the bear!! It was a very neat experience
