Long time BC resident, but have never travelled in the Wells Grey area until this August.
The waterfalls in the park are fantastic and are worth the drive into the park from the main highway... witness Helmcken Falls.
Took us about two hours in total (ie there and back) from the main highway to view both Helmcken and Dawson Falls. Well worth the side trip.

Some tourists recommended I check out Wells Gray Provincial Park. It's a massive park but it's been dubbed Waterfall Park so I wanted to find out why! I marvelled at the width and beauty of Dawson Falls. I passed up the parking lot view and hiked 1 hr in on the Rim Trail to get a better look at Helmcken Falls. I was in awe of the size of the canyon and beauty of the entire park.
