Bella Coola

Bird Watching

Bald Eagles in a tree

Bird watchers will delight and find a rich playground within Bella Coola, particularly at the estuary.

Large numbers of majestic bald eagles live in the Bella Coola Valley year round, as do a wide variety of land and water birds including Steller's jays (BC’s official bird), whiskey jacks, juncos and humorously named buffleheads and coots.

From the bugle of the snow-white trumpeter swan to the trill of the diminutive rufous hummingbird in courtship or the drumming of the ruffed grouse calling a mate, the mountains here are alive with birdsong.
