Visitors can rent a canoe or kayak and adventure on their own, but be well prepared and careful. High winds are common. Another option is to join a canoe or kayak tour. A couple companies in town, such as Sidka Tours and Schell Tours, offer multi-day trips on various lakes and rivers in the area.
Houseboating
A unique option for summer groups is to stay on one of two houseboats for rent on Atlin Lake. The houseboat rental company also offers guided day trips and two- to three-day charters around the lake during the summer.
Snowy mountains and nearby glaciers make for great photos, as do the extensive wildlife in the area including wild moose, grizzly bears, caribou, goats and various types of birds.
Private Boats
For those with their own boats, Atlin has two marinas - the public Brewery Bay Marina, and private Norseman Adventures Marina. Both are close to downtown and Norseman also rents motorboats.
