Ashcroft offers access to both river fishing at the Thompson River and lake fishing at Loon Lake and other lakes in the area.

The Thompson River has one of the most significant Steelhead Salmon runs in British Columbia. Area lakes have both Rainbow trout and Kokanee populations. Many area lakes are also serviced by all-inclusive fishing resorts.

Loon Lake

Loon Lake is a long (14km/9mi) narrow fishing lake, well stocked with Rainbow trout and Kokanee. It is one of a few remaining naturally stocked lakes in British Columbia. Rainbow trout can weigh up to 1.4kg/3lb. Catches of 30.5cm/12in to 40.6cm/16in are not uncommon. To reach Loon Lake, which has a boat launch, turn north at the Trans-Canada Highway/Highway 97 and drive for 21km/13mi to Loon Lake road, turn right and follow it for 18 km/11mi to the lake.
