Park in BC (JF Bergeron photo)
Ashcroft is located near two provincial parks that offer visitors very different experiences.
Juniper Beach Provincial Park is a full-service park with plenty of RV and camping facilities. Arrowstone Provincial Park is much more rustic with off-the-beaten-track hiking, fishing, and back-country camping.
Juniper Beach Provincial Park
Juniper Beach Provincial Park is a 260ha/642ac full service park on the Trans-Canada Hwy about 20 km/12mi towards Kamloops and near the historic community of Walhachin. The park's proximity to the Thompson River and rolling hills of sagebrush, juniper, and pear cactus, makes it an excellent location for boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. The park has a first-come first-served campground with 30 RV and tenting campsites.

There is also a day-use area, which accesses a small sandy beach and swimming hole. (Be careful – the river is fast-moving sometimes.)
Arrowstone Provincial Park
Arrowstone Provincial Park is a wilderness area with few amenities - no camping or day-use facilities. However, it is one of the most popular fishing, hiking, back-country camping, outfitting, and snowshoeing locations near Ashcroft. Snowmobiling is not allowed. The park protects the largest watershed in British Columbia's dry southern interior. The main entrance to the park is via the road to Loon Lake. Other points of entry are located along the forestry road that runs the park's boundary.
