Skiing & Snowboarding
Skiing (Canadian Tourism Commission photo)
Excellent snow conditions, awesome slopes and three terrain parks bring skiers and snowboarders to Apex Mountain Resort just 35 minutes outside Penticton.
Numerous national aerial and mogul teams choose Apex for training and the resort regularly hosts World Cup and NorAm events. Apex has been recognized by Ski Canada Magazine with a variety of awards including Best Steeps, Best Grooming and Best Small Destination Resort.
Snow Conditions
With the combination of 600cm/19ft average annual snowfall and very low humidity, Apex is known for its light champagne powder. Expect comfortable skiing from early December to April with temperatures averaging around -4°C/25°F.
Apex Mountain Terrain
Descend forest glades, wide-open cruisers or chutes so steep that even advanced skiers and boarders think twice before dropping into them. The 450ha/1,112ac of terrain includes 68 marked downhill trails with a maximum vertical of 610m/2,000ft. The longest run is 5km/3mi. Some 64 per cent of the runs are rated blue or green with an area set aside for beginners.

But there's more than enough black diamond action with 36 per cent of runs rated advanced/expert.
Check out the south bowls, explore the glades in the Wild Side, ramp up the adrenaline on a north side chute or make a statement in The Pit. There’s always a sweet spot on the mountain.
Lots of Lifts
As one of the lesser-known resorts in the Okanagan, Apex remains uncrowded and skiers and snowboarders spend their time on the slopes, not in lift lines. The Quickdraw high-speed quad services the summit; Stocks triple chair leads to green and blue rated action and Crooked Park; a T-bar reaches the Claim Jumper and Showtime terrain parks, while a Magic Carpet handles the tube park and learning centre.
Night-skiing is available on several runs on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.
Snow School
Learn to ski and snowboard or hone those skills with group lessons. The Rippin’ Rascals programs are geared to kids with daycare for little ones from 18 months, short private lessons for 3 to 5-year-olds, group lessons for kids up to 12 and development camps for youth aged 6 to 17.
Special group sessions are available including Ladies Day Wednesdays. Private coaching is tailored to the individual needs and goals of the individual or group.
