Things To Do
Apex Mountain Resort is a family destination that also hosts the world's top freestyle athletes.
Before the main season, the resort's snowmaking capabilities and excellent facilities make this a training destination for national aerial and mogul teams. Once the resort officially opens, downhill skiing and snowboarding are the prime focus, but winter activities like tubing, ice skating, pick-up hockey, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing draw lots of attention too.
Skiing & Snowboarding
Downhillers and snowboarders tackle 450ha/1,112ac of terrain geared to challenge skills from beginner to powder hound. Ski Canada Magazine has recognized Apex with Best Steeps and Best Grooming awards. Boarders step it up a notch on the rails, spines, tables and sliders in three terrain parks. Both riders and gliders hone those skills with group lessons or private coaching at the Snow School.

More Winter Activities
When the skiing and boarding are done for the day, or it's just time for a change of pace, Apex comes through with a selection of other winter activities. Head for the 1km/0.6mi loop and skate through the winter forest or join a pick-up game of hockey on the NHL-sized outdoor rink. Take the ultimate downhill ride in tube park. Guaranteed fun for all ages.
Cross-Country Skiing
While Apex does not maintain its own Nordic trails, cross-country skiers find excellent trails 6km/3.7mi west at Nickel Plate Cross Country Ski Club. With nearly three-quarters of the 56km/35mi of groomed trails rated easy or intermediate, this is an ideal venue for beginners and families. Experts will enjoy three black-diamond trails and 20km/12mi of un-groomed backcountry forestry trails.
Snowshoeing
Nickel Plate Cross Country Ski Club, 6km/3.7mi west of Apex, maintains 25km/16mi of marked snowshoe trails. Trek out through the forest and open meadows on easy grades. Snowshoe rentals are available.
Rest & Relaxation
The Hands on Therapy spa, located in the Apex Mountain Inn, balances high-octane outdoor activity with quiet personal pampering. Relieve muscle aches with an hour on the massage table, join an Okido yoga session or take a day off for the full body treatment. Spa time is ideal for those who aren't into sliding and gliding.
