Dining at Apex Mountain Resort is geared to the resort's active outdoor lifestyle. Food is hearty, surroundings are casual and the atmosphere is fun. Speedy snacks, pub fare, upscale eats and high-octane nightlife are all featured on the menu.
Apex regulars call the Hog on the Hill breakfast sandwich the mountain's best kick-start for ski legs. Egg, ham, salsa and other good stuff squeezed between two halves of a bagel - served at Fresh Tracks Café in the village.
The Powder Hound Café in the Double Diamond hostel gets the nod from coffee hounds looking for espresso, latte and cappuccino - and Fresh Tracks is also known for creative caffeine.
Quick Bites
For a speedy fuel up and back to the slopes, the Longshot Cafeteria serves buffet-style sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta, chili and homemade soups in the heart of Apex village.
Best Patio
There's only one game in town, but it's the quintessential ski resort patio. Expansive, south facing with a full-on view of the slopes - the patio at the Gunbarrel Saloon is the no-contest place to be on a sunny winter afternoon.
Pub Food and Nightlife
Loud music, welcoming fire, artfully clad moose and snow-cat DJ booth… pretty much sums up the surroundings inside the Gunbarrel Saloon and goes some way to explaining why Ski Canada Magazine has rated this the best Après Ski Bar in the country.
Pub food served all day and into the wee hours runs the gamut from burgers and wraps to pasta and homemade soups. But the big story here is the signature Gunbarrel Coffee. A little brandy and a lot of showmanship make this drink an Apex icon.
Diner Out
Mediterranean cuisine comes to the mountain at the Tempest Room in the Apex Mountain Inn. Run by the owners of Naramata's Lake Breeze Winery, the menu ranges from tapas to full-course dinners. Expect a worthwhile wine list.
Linen tablecloths set the tone for fine dining in the Fireside Room. Open only for dinner, this is the place for steak.
