One of the most spectacular heritage sites in Canada, situated on the shores of Stuart Lake. Fort St. James is the largest collection of original wooden buildings representing the Fur Trade in Canada and appeals to young and old with family activities for everyone.

Enter our World Class Chicken races held every day at 11:30 and you can win chicken bucks to spend in our gift shop or our restaurant with dishes like salmon fillets, ribs, beef dip sandwiches, salmon burgers, taco chili and stew.

Please note:  Open year-round for self-guided visits. Guided tours available seasonally from Jun 1st to mid Sep or year-round by appointment. Special events occur year-round. Chicken races every day at 11:30 from June 1 to mid September

Cancellation Policy
Our accommodation service works on a 24 hour cancellation policy. Email or call us for reservations information.
Group Policy
Group rates are available and discounted. Trip leaders are free. English, French, German spoken. School programs run June and September.
Mobility Restrictions
Some historic buildings are accessed via raised boardwalks and narrow doorways. Wheelchairs are able to access most points in the historic site. Our Fish Cache building has a staircase which will restrict mobility.
