Buttle Lake & Ralph River campgrounds offer serene base camps, where one can spend days on any of the 52 km of hiking trails that venture into the wilderness mountains of Strathcona; reservations accepted. The rest of the park is largely undeveloped & appeals primarily to people seeking wilderness surroundings. To see & enjoy much of the scenic splendor requires hiking or backpacking into the alpine regions.

From Hwy 19 to Campbell River, then onto Hwy 28 for approximately 48 km; follow signs to Buttle Lake area.
