This is a photo of my wife Susan and just another big fish she landed this summer. We both caught a lot of fish that day but this was the troply we talked about on the way home. We did finally get a good photo of her smiling while holding the fish just before the live release. When fishing these high country streams you have to be prepared for wild fat fish that just don't want to be handled. This is why we don't use a net so we can get them back into the water as fast as we can.

This days fishing was away from the paved road about 60 K's but not far from where we parked. At my age I don't walk far of the trail anymore. This area has many rivers that produce great fish all season long. A lot are near public access not far from a road way. You can also hike in to mre remote parts of the rivers if you choose to. The Skooumchuck river is a good choice for a remote fly fishing trip with good road access.

That fish looks determined to get back in the water! Was this high country stream easy to get to from Cranbrook, or did it require a bit of a backcountry trek?
