I am from Seattle. I heard  the Cantonese food in Vancouver is good. Worth the drive, anyone?

One of my favorite things about Vancouver is the authenticity and quality of its multicultural restaurants. There are some wonderful places to eat Chinese food in Vancouver, mostly concentrated in Richmond (just south of Vancouver and near the airport). I've been told by people who know that the quality rivals what you find in Hong Kong and elsewhere. The places with the best food are a cultural as well as a culinary experience: English may not be widely spoken and the menus may be a little cryptic, but the food will be wonderful. That said, my preference is for the food from the Sichuan (Szechuan) province, not Canton. My favourite: across from the passport office at 8011 Saba Rd, Richmond is a large szechuan place that has beautiful decor, wonderful service, and fantastic (albeit sometimes spicy) food. Sorry I can't recall the name, but you can find it using your google maps. Sun Sui Wah (sunsuiwah.com) is great for fantastic dim sum lunch. Its also worth checking out the Yaohan Centre (3700 No. Three Road) in Richmond. The food stalls there have inexpensive, tasty, and very authentic food (none of our westernized Chinese fare here). Having recently traveled through Asia and SE Asia, I can tell you this is about as authentic as you're going to get without hopping on a plane.
If you want wonderful food in the midst of a thriving Chinese community, come to Richmond. I doubt you'll have tasted better Chinese food ... I know I haven't.
