My boyfriend and I spent a lovely evening after work down at Crescent Beach in South Surrey. It is one of our favourite ocean spots that is never overly crowded (although it does get quite busy on hot summer days). We started our evening with some fresh cod and chips to go from The Fish Net which we carried on a short walk to the beach and ate while sitting on a park bench overlooking the ocean. We then headed back into the small community of Crescent Beach and bought a couple of ice cream cones from Mario’s Gelato. Their liquorice ice cream was black, rich and delicious! My boyfriend tried some banana gelato and really enjoyed it.
We then headed back to the beach and walked along the ocean down to Blackie Spit Park and watched the dogs swimming in the off leash area. This is the only area where dogs are allowed during the summer months. We searched the beach for unique seashells and found quite a few. The waters were busy with sailboats and pleasure boats and even a few skidoos. Overall, it was a relaxing enjoyable evening with a lovely sunset at the end of our night. We will be back!

Skidegate days is next weekend the 19th, 20th, and 21st. It starts on Thursday with food and games in the Skidegate Community Hall. On Friday the celebrations will continue with an outdoor volleyball tounament and a teen dance. On Saturday, the day starts with a pancake breakfast followed by golf chipping, fish splitting, and canoe races. Later that evening there is an adult dance at the george brown recreation centre!

Recently,we have moved to the Cariboo, and have been working hard to remodel an old big house, to transform it into an interesting Bed and Breakfast and Boardinghouse for working crews.
To promote our accommodation,we have made trips in the area and found very interesting stores and activities.
A place to visit for starters is :
the 108 mile museum, to get a taste for the Gold Rush memories, before embarking on the trip to Barkerville. This is an unforgettable experience, we stayed in the Saint George Hotel, right in Barkerville, and enjoyed old fashioned hospitality.
In Barkerville the guided tours thru the town, are done by great actors, and make you feel that you are actually live in the time of the goldminers.
Clinton is a great place to visit, as it has a museum, several antique and gift shops.
August 4th longweekend, Medival Days, and Agust 18, Country Music Jamboree
Check out the Painted Chasm, a mini Grand Canyon.
For horse lovers, a visit to any of the Guest ranches will be a treat.
For boating and fishing, pick a lake, there too many to chose from. The scenery is beautiful on hwy 97, rolling hills, farms and lakes.

The 5th Annual Whiskey Creek Music Festival, A Tribute to the Greats! takes place July 14th and 15th 2007, at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds.
We are adding a new twist and offering a two-day event, with a dance on the Saturday night. Each day will offer a variety of performances from past favorites and a few new tribute artists. The dance offers great music by the Fad Four Eyes paying tribute to the Beatles and Willy & The Poor Boys as CCR. Dancing not required, but the need to boogie may hit you.
The shows start Saturday July 14th at noon until approximately 6pm.
Beer Garden offered each day from noon until the close of the performances.
Sunday a whole new show starts at noon going until 6pm or a little later.
Cost for each day is $20 or $35 for a weekend pass. Kids 12 and under free.
Dance tickets are $15 each, sold on site. No minors please.
We still offer free camping for Friday and Saturday nights, with paid admission.
Camping by donation before and after the above dates.
You saw us last year, come and check out the 5th Anniversary, some new artists and the dance. You’re sure to leave with a smile on your face and a song playing in your head.

I have never been a huge fan of camping but I love sleeping outside. I may have finally found the answer at the Rockwater Secret Cove Resort on the Sunshine Coast. They have 13 very luxurious treehouse tents that are simply out of this world. The walls are made of some sort of canvas material with 'windows' in them which you can open up to feel like you are really outside...great when you are lounging in the 2 person soaker tub or enjoying a hot shower that has one of those large 'rain showerheads' - - both options ideal after a day of kayaking off the property with the folks at Halfmoon Bay Kayaking. The restaurant at Rockwater serves wonderful food in a spectacular setting. And they have a spa too, which I didn't try but will on my next 'camping' trip.

I recently took my 8 year old daughter to Deer Lake in Burnaby to go peddle boating. It was a first for both of us and we will definetly be back. The folks at Deer Lake Boat Rentals were friendly, efficient and very encouraging as we began our one hour journey across the lake ($15 per hour). We gingerly got into our 2 passenger peddle boat, learned how to steer and set off on our explorations which included seeing all sorts of ducks, a few very cool homes on the south side of the lake, lots of canoers and kayakers (DLBR also rents canoes and kayaks), beautiful lily pads and willow trees. We felt like we were miles from civilzation. A highlight for me was seeing the Arthur Erickson designed Baldwin House hugging the shores of the lake. At the end of the hour we headed back to shore to enjoy ice cream off the ice cream truck, "just like when I was a kid", and for a carousel ride at Burnaby Village Museum across the street. My legs felt like jelly all day from the peddling, but it was a wonderful adventure!

Nakusp Music Fest is putting a little West Kootenay town on the map.
Known as a showcase of Classic Rock icons, the NMF has previously welcomed acts such as Kim Mitchell, Blue Rodeo and Loverboy.
This years lineup looks good with 2 stages over three days. Headliners include Collective Soul, Tom Cochrane, and Doc Walker.
