Sky Skiing on Shuswap Lake, B.C.

Shuswap Lake is a beautiful lake for water skiing, camping, renting house boats and just enjoing yourself.  The weather in the summer months is usually around 26-30 C. and it warms the lake up to a comfortable temperature.  There is also good fishing and bird watching.

Smuggler Cove

I discovered Smuggler Cove last year during a trip to the Sunshine Coast with my dad and sister. We found it on a map we picked up at a Visitor Centre and decided to check it out. The hike was easy and after about half an hour or so we arrived at this beautiful little inlet. There were only a few people and a couple of boats. We sat on the rocks in the sun, ate our lunch and took in the beauty of this magical place. Just as we were ready to leave, a big bold eagle flew by. Amazing.

Red Rooster Winery

During a wine tasting trip last year I liked the Pinot Noir at Red Rooster Winery the best. Like most wineries, the architecture of the building is also interesting. Their wines aren't available in most liquor stores in Vancouver, so whenever I'm in Penticton, I swing by and stock up.

Hidden Beauty

My wife is probably the only person to have ever seen this hidden beauty perched on top of a ledge beside a trail leading away from Brandywine Falls to what we thought was the trestle bridge...  Late spring showers came and went, leaving raindrops glistening in the sun upon petal and moss.  A pale purple petal caught her eye and she craned on tiptoes to take a picture of what was only partially visible.  Getting soaked to the skin and lost in the wooded wilderness with only ourselves and wildlife for company for the next three hours were an added reward on our last day in BC.

During our visit to Vancouver in January we were delighted to find strange and wonderful sculptures around the city as part of the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale.  This one, Engagement, by Dennis Oppenheim, was our favourite.  A pair of diamond engagement rings and a sunset - what more could a romantic desire!

With family in from the Cayman's we went to the top of Whistler Peak to take it all in. Mid summer Whistler is a great place to be, with the vibe of the village, the mild temperatures at the top, and blue sky all around. Spending much of the afternoon gazing and shooting panaramics, it was hard for my brother, Richmond native, to leave. No beach in the Caymans can beat the beauty of surrounding mountains and the infamous "Black Tusk" at Garibaldi Park.

Sechelt Inlet

 We made an adventure to the Sunshine Coast, an area we hadn't been to for a number of years, and discovered its beauty.

Even in the damp days of spring, the view from a B & B on the Sechelt Inlet is hard to beat.
