Turning 24

It was 1980. I was on a cross-Canada train trek (except by bus in places like between Vancouver and Victoria) visiting artist-run galleries in order to better function as manager of a gallery in my hometown. I was enjoying the day in Vancouver before boarding the train for my return trip East. It was my 24th birthday! Almost a month later I was home and found out my grandfather had passed away on my birthday! He died while happily watching a CFL game on TV. Somehow, I have always looked at this BC experience as some kind of karmic connection between Ontario and British Columbia and my grandfather and I. I have yet to return to the West to continue the journey, but I know someday, somehow I will. Stay tuned: I am!
