Springtime in the Kootneys

Even though my sons all live in the beautiful Kooneys of British Columbia, it was my first visit.  Seeing this area for the first time was a very moving experience, and I now understand why they chose to stay.  The mountains were breathtaking.  My sons took me four-wheeling on the logging roads, and showed me the great glaciers that still grace the Canadian Rockies.  You must believe me when I tell you the Canadian Rocky Mountains are much more massive and more magestic than their counterparts in the States.  I experienced the spring run-off, down the sides of the mountains, the magnificent trees and abundant wildlife.  The people are fantastic and very hospitable.  The trip left me yearning for more, and British Columbia stole my heart in that short week I visited.  Slocan is a little town nestled in the mountains, and the beautiful city of Nelson sits on the lake, again surrounded by the mountains.  There is something for everyone; bird watching, skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, nature trails, fishing, boating, cycling, and many local artists.
