Snowmobiling
Snowmobiling (Don Weixl photo)
Wide-open, snow-covered wilderness and frozen lakes invite winter visitors to venture out and explore the 100 Mile House by snowmobile.
Snowmobiling is a popular sport in the South Cariboo, and the area offers a vast network of trails that stretch between the Marble Range mountains and Green Lake to the south of 100 Mile House, and Begbie Summit Trail to Mahood Lake to the north of town.
Snowmobiling Trails
The 100 Mile Snowmobile Club maintains a groomed touring trail network stretching from 70 Mile House north to Spout Lake. Another network from 70 Mile House, south of Green Lake, connects with trails in Kamloops.
In fact, the 100 Mile House snowmobile corridor joins into the Trans Canada Snowmobile Trail, a project that will eventually stretch 10,000km/6,213mi and will link all provinces and territories.

Rentals via Resorts and Ranches
Several local resorts and ranches offer snowmobiling to their guests. For those wishing to explore South Cariboo trails on their own, snowmobiles can be rented from Performance All Terrain & Rentals in 100 Mile House. The three active snow machine clubs in the area are Green Lake Snowmobile Club, 100 Mile Snowmobile Club, and Interlakes Snowmobile Club. The clubs can be contacted directly for information and possible tours.
Practical Points
- Be aware of possible dangers when riding on the lakes, since there could be slush or open water under the snow.
- Visitors are advised not to ride alone.
- It takes only a short time to get out farther than it is possible to walk back if something goes wrong with equipment.
- Be aware of all safety issues or warnings in the area.
