For those seeking the independence that only camping can bring, the 100 Mile House area has hundreds of campsites with a wide variety of amenities and options.
All of the camping resorts and many of the guest ranches overlook lakes and have beautiful, waterfront, private campsites. Amenities may include showers and laundry services, pit or flush toilets, and some have boat launch capacity. Rentals and activities are often also available to guests.
In this area of many lakes, nearly 30 of the campgrounds in the 100 Mile area are set on a lake. However, the few that are not waterfront are typically located only a short drive from a lake. Many of the private campgrounds have RV as well as tenting sites and offer power and water for RVs. Full hook-up (power, water, sewer), power and water only, and "dry" sites (no services) are all available. Some sites provide a sani-dump on site or offer sani-dump services. Private campgrounds have a camping fee and some may require reservations.
In addition to private campgrounds, there are many user-maintained recreational sites (formerly forestry recreation sites) that operate seasonally and are spread throughout the area. Many are lakefront but services are limited. Visitors are reminded to pack out what they pack in.
Provincial Parks Camping
Green Lake Provincial Park has three campgrounds around the lake, and two have great beaches. The parks at Lac La Hache and Bridge Lake each have one campground. Both parks have short interpretive trail systems.
Services can be limited in provincial parks. Toilets, for example, may be pit toilets or flush toilets and there are no shower houses, electrical or water hookups. Drinking water taps are available and some have a sani-dump for RVs.
While camping is offered in provincial parks, the parks do exist to protect nature and wildlife, including animal habitat. Bans on open fires may be in effect and visitors are reminded that, because of the presence of wildlife, dogs may only be allowed if they are on a leash. Lock away all food.
For information on reservations or other restrictions, check with the park administration or visit BC Parks.
